Individual Project
The concept of the deep state originated in Turkey, referring to military and bureaucratic groups operating behind the facade of democratic institutions to control national affairs. Although often dismissed as a conspiracy theory, it highlights a critical issue: in modern society, the workings of power are not always transparent and are often obscured beneath seemingly open institutional structures.
New York City, as a global center of finance and politics, with its intricate power structures and layered history, provides an ideal context for exploring the concept of the deep state. This government archive seeks to bring hidden government documents, forgotten histories, and undisclosed operations into public view. This project is not only a critical response to the opacity of deep-seated power but also a spatial expression of democracy, transparency, and public participation.
